The long-awaited ‘Flash’ movie, announced as far back as 2014, has finally arrived on the big screens and online. Directed by Andrés Muschietti, known for his work on the ‘It’ reboot, the film stars Ezra Miller in the lead role, alongside Michael Shannon, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton. The film’s plot is inspired by the events of the ‘Flashpoint’ comic but promises to showcase a different version of it.
The main character of the film is forensic scientist Barry Allen, who gains the incredible ability to move at unimaginable speeds during a failed experiment. Using his newfound powers, he seeks to undo the main tragedy of his childhood – his mother’s death. However, messing with the timeline can have dire consequences, and the Flash finds himself trapped in an alternate world.
The film takes its time to build up, but it keeps the audience engaged throughout. In terms of spirit and atmosphere, it resembles Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy. It doesn’t strive for realism but turns every action scene into a colorful and dynamic adventure. The action sequences are truly impressive, complemented by good dialogue and humor. There are some issues with CGI and a convoluted plot, but overall, if you haven’t had your fill of superheroics, ‘The Flash’ is worth a watch.
